1st GLOBAL GRANADOS MARATHON
OCTOBER 9, 2017
Melba Hall, Royal Parade
Guitarists Gerard Mapstone and Dr. Ken Murray perform selected works by Enrique Granados (1867-1916) as part of the 1st Global Granados Marathon this October.
After successfully organizing the 1st Scarlatti & Cabezón Global Marathons in 2006 and 2010, FIMTE is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Enrique Granados' birth with the 1st Granados Global Marathon. Our aim is not only to celebrate this special anniversary, but to bring attention to Enrique Granados’ vast piano solo repertoire –more than 200 works.
Granados, together with Albéniz and Falla, represents the Spanish national piano school. Therefore, we intend to perform Granados’ complete piano solo works in 24 hours around the globe by different performers, including students and profesional musicians. The event will be transmitted through video streaming via Youtube. After the event the archived videos will be available on FIMTE's Youtube channel & website.
